Cindo De Mayo is Mexico’s national holiday commemorating the Mexican Army’s defeat of the French forces on May 5, 1862 at Puebla. Cinco De Mayo is usually celebrated by singing, dancing, parting, and having a feast.  It is in general a time to be proud to be of Hispanic descent.  If you are planning on having a Cinco De Mayo celebration this year here are some great recipes that you may want to take a look at!

School Memories — Scrabooking

Posted in Art, Art Projects, Arts and Crafts, Family, Kids, Scrapbooking at 12:49 am by Michelle

You know as I get older and I look back at my old year books I am surprised about how many things that I do not remember anymore! Guess I am showing my age :)

I ran across a great selection of scrapbook pages that will allow everyone to scrapbook about everything from the first day until graduation. Wouldn’t it be great to capture our children’s memories in a scrapbook that they could cherish for all times. They could even help journalize about important events during school. Then as the years go by they will not forget those precious moments!

Here are a few of the pages that I have found, if you see one that you like just click on the picture to be taken to the store. Each page is 12″ x 12″ and is on 80lb text paper. There is no minimum order and each page is 65 cents or you can purchase them in a pack of 25 for $8.50. There are even coordinating embellishments to go with the scrapbook pages. To view more scrapbook pages go to Two Gals And A Computer Toy Store. These are all from the NEW Saved By The Bell Collection. This beautiful collection features bright colors with fun shapes, that everyone will enjoy.

Kids Birthday Party Baking Activity — Cookie Pizzas

Posted in Art, Art Projects, Arts and Crafts, Cookie Recipes, Craft Projects, Family, Kids, Kids Birthday Ideas at 3:32 pm by Michelle

Here is a great activity to keep kids entertained at a birthday party. It is great because the kids get to make their own edible treat.

You will need the following:

  • 1 package of refrigerated peanut butter cookie dough
  • 1 jar maraschino cherries
  • 1 cup of peanuts
  • 1 package of semisweet chocolate chips
  • 8 ounces of vanilla candy coating
  • cardboard
  • pot pie pans

Instructions:

Take the cardboard and draw 8 circles using the pot pie pan as a pattern; cut out the circles and set aside. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray each pot pie pan with vegetable spray until well coated. Divide cookie dough into eight sections. With flour on your hands press one section of dough into each pot pie pan. Bake 4 to 8 minutes, until dough is cooked. Carefully remove from the pan and cool on a wire rack. Repeat steps with remaining cookie dough. Place the cookies on cardboard circles after cooled.

Now here is the fun part for the kids.

Lay out a piece of wax paper in front of each of the cookies, place cherries, peanuts, and chocolate chips on the wax paper. Let the kids cut the cherries in half with a plastic knife. Then let them decorate their cookies. They will have a great time! While the kids are decorating the cookies have someone take and melt the vanilla candy coating. After each kid is done decorating their cookie; drizzle candy coating over the cookies; let it harden. Then it is ready to be eaten.

Baby Showers Games and Gift Ideas

Posted in Baby, Baby Gifts, Baby Shower, Family, Kids at 11:12 pm by Michelle

If you are like me you seem to be always going to baby showers or know someone that is fixing to have a baby.  Below are some of the games that we have played at baby showers that have been a blast!

Pin the bottle on the baby’s mouth:
Start by using a large poster board and a magic marker; draw a large picture of a baby. On a separate piece of paper, draw and cut out a picture of a bottle and stick double sided tape on the back. Blindfold your guests and have them try to stick the bottle on the baby’s mouth. The person closest to the intended target wins.

Bottle ring toss:
Take the nipple rings off several baby bottles. You can either set up some sort of container (like a baby bathtub or small trash can) and have guests toss the rings into the container from a fair distance away.  The person with the highest score wins the game.

Craft making party:
Have guests decorate t-shirts/onesies for the baby using puff paints and markers, or have them put together a scrapbook for baby.  This makes an extra special gift for the mom-to-be.

Pack your diaper bag:
Have guests compete to see who can pack a diaper bag with as many different baby items the quickest.

Baby pool:
Have your guests bet a dollar on the date, time, or birth weight of baby-to-be’s birth. After baby is born, the person who guessed correctly can be given a nice prize. Money collected is given to the parents-to-be or used on a gift for them.

Here are some items that would make a great gift for a new baby!  Just click on the picture to be taken to the site to order the gifts.  These can also be shipped to anywhere within the United States.
